Mayor Vico Clarifies the Price and Quality of Pasig Go Bags
VICO SOTTO — The Mayor of Pasig City took to social media to explain the real cost and process behind the city’s “Pasig Go Bag” project — an emergency preparedness program that has gained attention for being both affordable and high-quality.
In his post, Sotto compared the city’s purchase price with the usual retail cost. He explained that if people tried to buy and assemble the same items from regular stores, it would cost more than ₱2,000, while bulk purchases would still range between ₱1,200 and ₱1,800. However, the Pasig City Government was able to acquire each Go Bag for only ₱992 through a fair and transparent bidding process.
Sotto admitted that he was initially nervous when the project was awarded to the winning bidder, as he feared the items might be of low quality. But after inspecting the deliveries, he confirmed that everything — from scissors to flashlights — was of good quality. Because of this, the city was able to provide one Go Bag per household, with additional bags distributed to schools, public utility vehicles (PUVs), and tricycle operators and drivers’ associations (TODA). Each bag contains essential emergency tools and supplies, reflecting the city’s strong commitment to disaster preparedness and the responsible use of public funds.

Mayor Sotto said the project represents his administration’s commitment to improving government procurement and promoting honesty and accountability in every transaction. He acknowledged that pushing for reforms is never easy but encouraged everyone to stay firm and continue building on the progress that has already been made.

He concluded his post by inviting Pasigueños to watch his State of the City Address 2025 on October 13 at 3 p.m., which will be streamed live on Facebook. Sotto expressed optimism, saying that the future of Pasig City is bright, and promised to continue leading with transparency, integrity, and genuine public service.
