Torre Jokes About Possible Impeachment if He Runs for VP
NICOLAS TORRE III – The former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief humorously dismissed suggestions for him to run as Vice President, saying he might get impeached immediately if he accepted such a role.
In a recent radio interview, Torre said he was flattered by the idea but doubted he could handle the position, recalling his short stint as PNP Chief, which lasted only 85 days before he was removed. He joked that if he became Vice President, his term might be even shorter, perhaps lasting only 84 or 83 days before being impeached.
“It’s an honor, thank you very much for considering me. Pero parang hindi ko kakayanin dahil, chief PNP nga lang, 85 days lang ako tanggal agad eh. So baka naman ‘pag nag-VP ako, edi na-impeach kaagad ako 84 days lang o 83 days lang,” he said.

Torre explained that while it was an honor to be considered for a high-ranking government position, he was uncertain if he was ready to take on another sensitive role in public service. His remarks reflected both humility and humor, acknowledging the challenges of leadership and the political realities that come with it.
The former police chief also shared that he is currently enjoying a quieter and more peaceful life after leaving his post. Torre said he is spending more time with his family while on leave, appreciating the rare opportunity to rest after years of service. He joked that while he isn’t used to doing nothing, being relieved from duty has been, quite literally, a relief for him.

As of now, there has been no update from Malacañang regarding any new position that might be offered to Torre. Despite this, he remains content with his current situation, expressing gratitude for the break and the time it has given him to focus on his personal life.
