Robin Padilla Commends Robredo’s Ethical Move, Reveals VP Sara Has Similar Rule
ROBIN PADILLA – Senator Robin Padilla opened up about his stance on declining gifts from the public, linking it to the “No Gift Policy” upheld by both Leni Robredo and Vice President Sara Duterte.
Robin Padilla recently explained why he and other government officials often refuse gifts from the public, citing compliance with ethical standards in public service. His clarification came in connection with the “No Gift Policy” implemented by former Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, a measure that aims to uphold transparency and integrity among public officials.
According to Robredo, the policy applies to all public offices in Naga City to prevent conflicts of interest and potential corruption. She emphasized that such rules are important in maintaining clean governance and ensuring that public servants remain accountable to the people they serve.

Padilla, in a Facebook post, pointed out that Vice President Sara Duterte also practices the same policy. “Ganito rin si VP Inday Sara Duterte. Paulit-ulit na sinasabi ng staff niya sa lahat ng aming pinupuntahan sa abroad. No gift policy,” the senator wrote, showing support for the initiative and aligning it with his own principles as a public servant.
He further appealed to the public to understand their position and not feel offended when their gifts or offers are declined. “Ganu’n din po sa mga nais manglibre sa restaurant, hindi po ako isnub, natural lang po na hindi ako pumayag kapag sinasabi na ilibre kita,” the husband of TV host Mariel Rodriguez added, clarifying that his refusal is out of adherence to proper conduct, not arrogance or disregard.
Padilla also humorously shared his observation about how Filipinos abroad often insist on giving tokens of appreciation. “Maraming salamat po, wala na akong magagawa kung kasingbilis niyo si FPJ bumunot,” he joked, showing his trademark humor while expressing gratitude.

Through his statement, Senator Padilla emphasized the importance of upholding integrity in public office and adhering to ethical guidelines. His remarks reflect his commitment to transparency and his acknowledgment of fellow leaders, such as Vice President Sara Duterte and former Mayor Leni Robredo, who promote accountability through the “No Gift Policy.”
