Lino Cayetano Supports Brother Alan’s Call for a Fresh Start, Says No Cayetano Should Run in 2028

Lino Cayetano: No Cayetano Should Run in 2028

LINO CAYETANO — The director expressed full support for his brother, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s call for a fresh start in Philippine politics. He even stated that no member of the Cayetano family should run for public office in 2028.

In a rare moment of agreement, Lino backed Alan’s “Blessed Sunday Reflection,” where the senator suggested that all top government officials — including the President, Vice President, senators, and members of Congress — should resign together and call for a new election. Alan explained that the public has already lost trust in the government and its officials. He also proposed that none of those currently in power should be allowed to run in the next election. According to him, the country needs a clean slate, honesty, and genuine renewal — not another protest or revolution.

A few hours after Alan posted his message, Lino responded, saying he agreed with his brother’s idea but emphasized that it should start with them. He urged his brother to take the lead and show that real change begins when those in power are willing to step aside. Lino added that such an act of humility and sacrifice would be something their late father, former Senator Rene Cayetano, would be proud of.

Lino also challenged his family to do the same, saying the Cayetanos have led Taguig for 15 years and should now give others a chance to serve. He vowed that no member of their family would run in 2028. He clarified that this was not a political stunt but a sincere effort to respond to the frustration and anger of Filipinos who are tired of corruption and unfulfilled promises.

Like his brother, Lino said Filipinos are honest, hardworking, and eager for genuine change. He believes that if older politicians refuse to make sacrifices, it may be time for a new generation of leaders — from schools, businesses, and the youth — to take charge and lead the nation forward.
