Lady Customer Frustrated After Convenience Store Allegedly Refuses to Accept GCash Payment
A lady customer was disappointed after a well-known convenience store allegedly refused to accept GCash as a mode of payment.
Recently, a Threads user named Ziggeryyy shared her experience at the store, saying it did not allow payments through GCash. The post quickly went viral and gathered various reactions from netizens online.
The lady customer went to a 7-Eleven branch with only P35 in coins. Confident that she could still buy more using her GCash account, she asked the cashier if mobile payment was accepted.

However, the staff told her that GCash transactions were not available. With limited cash on hand, she decided to buy a large pack of snacks worth P33 instead.
After leaving the store, she encountered a street vendor selling balut and jokingly asked if she could pay through GCash. The vendor said yes, which made her laugh at the irony that a small street seller could accept digital payments while a big convenience store couldn’t.
Many social media users found her story amusing yet relatable, especially since GCash has become one of the most common payment methods in the country. Some netizens shared similar experiences in other stores that still rely solely on cash transactions.

Others pointed out that technical issues or internal store policies might be the reason behind the lack of GCash availability. The post reminded many about how digital wallets have changed the way Filipinos handle money, making cashless payments more convenient, even for small vendors.

“So pumunta ako ng 7/11 with P35 coins lang kaso kampante naman ako to buy more than the cash i have kasi may gcash ako. Pero to make sure tinanong ko yung cashier if pwede gcash payment and sabi niya hindi daw pwede so i end up buying itong Oishi na malaki na ₱33. Paglabas ko ng 7/11 may nagbebenta ng balut e wala na ako cash tinanong ko is kuya if pwede gcash payment sabi niya pwede.HAHAHA. Natawa lang ako kasi buti pa yung nagbebenta ng balut pwede gcash payment. 7/11 baka nemen.”
