Karen Davila Calls Out Politicians Who Attended F1 Race in Singapore Amid Disasters

F1 in Singapore While Filipinos Struggle? Karen Davila Reacts

KAREN DAVILA — The ABS-CBN journalist became a trending topic online after expressing her concern over the actions of certain politicians during the recent disasters that struck the Philippines.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Karen extended her prayers for the victims of the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Davao. At the same time, she called out some politicians who, according to her unnamed source, were able to attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore despite the series of calamities affecting the country.

She shared her concern for Filipinos affected by the Davao earthquake and emphasized that the country has been facing one disaster after another — from strong typhoons and heavy flooding to major earthquakes in Cebu and Davao.

Karen questioned how certain public officials could still engage in leisure activities while many citizens were suffering. She mentioned that, based on her sources, some members of Congress were seen in Singapore for the F1 race the previous week, expressing disbelief that they would do so during such difficult times.

She wrote: “Praying for all our kababayans in Davao. Nakaranas ang Pilipinas ng sunod-sunod na BAGYO, BAHA… LINDOL SA CEBU… BAGYO ULIT… ngayon, LINDOL SA DAVAO… And sources tell us nakapag-F1 pa sa Singapore ang ilang pulitiko nung nakaraang linggo? Congressmen? Seriously?”

Moved by disappointment, Karen offered a prayer, asking God to bless the Philippines with leaders who truly care for the people — leaders with genuine compassion who are not indifferent or blind to the struggles of ordinary Filipinos.

Although Karen did not identify anyone by name, her post quickly spread across social media, sparking discussions about the priorities and accountability of government officials. Many agreed with her sentiments, saying that public servants should always demonstrate empathy and concern, especially in times of crisis when countless Filipinos are striving to recover and rebuild their lives.
