DPWH Repairs Damaged Roads as Part of “Lakbay Alalay” Program Ahead of Undas 2025

DPWH begins repairing pothole-damaged roads in Manila, especially routes leading to Manila North Cemetery, as part of its “Lakbay Alalay” program ahead of Undas 2025.

Recently, the Facebook page Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) photos of workers patching up damaged road sections and applying fresh asphalt in preparation for the expected surge of vehicles and pedestrians heading to cemeteries. The post elicited comments online.

As Filipinos prepare to visit cemeteries for Undas 2025, the Department of Public Works and Highways has started repairing damaged and pothole-filled roads in Manila to ensure smoother and safer travel for the public.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the immediate repair of several roads leading to the Manila North Cemetery, including Blumentritt Road, Aurora Avenue, Laon Laan, and Dimasalang Streets.

The repairs are part of the agency’s “Lakbay Alalay” program, which aims to provide safe and convenient travel during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.

Aside from the projects in Manila, Secretary Dizon also directed other regional and district engineering offices across the country to speed up their ongoing repair works. This includes the “Operation Zero Potholes” initiative and the repainting of lane markings on major roads to help ensure better traffic flow and road safety during the long weekend.

The DPWH emphasized that these road maintenance efforts are part of the government’s broader preparation for Undas, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure that the annual commemoration is orderly, safe, and convenient for everyone.

Through these initiatives, the DPWH hopes to provide travelers and cemetery-goers with a smoother journey, preventing accidents and traffic delays as families honor their departed loved ones.
