DPWH Official in Davao Oriental Expresses Concern During Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake
A DPWH official in Davao Oriental has expressed her concern during the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that shook the town.
On October 10, 2025, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake off the coast of Davao Oriental. The epicenter was located roughly 43 kilometers east of Manay, Davao Oriental, at a depth of about 23 kilometers.
The powerful tremor caused panic across nearby provinces. Buildings including schools, a hospital, and some public infrastructures suffered cracks or damage. Power outages were reported in the affected areas.

Recently, a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) official in Davao Oriental shared his deep worry and fear as a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook their area.
The official, identified as Joel Gementiza Fabrao, posted a video on Facebook showing the intense shaking as it happened at their office in Baganga, Davao Oriental. The post quickly went viral, drawing different reactions from the online community.
Many expressed concern for the safety of the employees and residents affected by the strong quake.
In the video, DPWH personnel can be seen outside their building after evacuating for safety. Fabrao captured the moment as the ground continued to tremble, showing just how strong the earthquake was.
Parts of the DPWH office building appeared to have sustained minor damage, with some cracks visible on the walls and ceilings.

The earthquake caused widespread panic across parts of Mindanao, prompting evacuations in several government offices and schools. Many employees and residents were seen gathering in open areas, avoiding structures that might collapse during aftershocks.

According to local authorities, all DPWH staff who evacuated are now safe and accounted for. They have temporarily suspended office operations to allow engineers to inspect the building and ensure it remains structurally sound before allowing anyone back inside.
