DSWD Order 4 Families in Bogo City to Return Financial Aid After Double Claiming
Four families in Bogo City, Cebu, were ordered to return financial aid after the DSWD discovered they each claimed assistance for the same damaged house.
Bogo City Mayor Mayel Martinez reported that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) found that the four families were living together in one house, but each had claimed financial help intended for homeowners whose houses were totally damaged by the recent earthquake.
The DSWD verified the claims and confirmed that the families had each received the same type of aid despite sharing one residence. Because of this, the agency directed them to return the money.

Mayor Martinez reminded residents not to spend the money if they were among those who made the claims, as they will be required to return it once the records are reviewed. He also cautioned others not to attempt the same, as the DSWD conducts strict monitoring and tracing during liquidation.
The local government emphasized that such actions delay the process and prevent other legitimate beneficiaries from receiving the help they need. The financial aid is meant to support those whose homes were genuinely damaged or destroyed by the earthquake, and misuse of this assistance could affect future payouts.
Mayor Martinez urged the public to cooperate and remain honest when applying for government assistance, especially during recovery efforts. He added that transparency and fairness are important to ensure that all affected families receive the proper support to rebuild their lives after the disaster.

“As per CSWD and DSWD naa na trace four families in one house puro nang claim tanan ug totally. Magpahibawo lang ko nga ipauli raba to nila ang kuwarta. So if nahibawo mo nga kamo to ayaw ninyo igasto ang money kay di na nya mo maka claim sa umaabot pa nga payout nga basin mas dako pa.
And sa mga naa intention mu attempt pa ug buhat ani ayaw nalang palihug kay mu trace raba gyud sila ug balik inig liquidation.
Kamo sad ang makapalangay sa uban.
Thank you!”
