Pet Groomer Wanted for Dog’s Death in Davao del Norte
DAVAO DEL NORTE – Authorities are searching for a pet groomer accused of causing the death of a dog inside a pet salon in Panabo City.
The heartbreaking incident went viral after June Jane Gentiles Chua took to social media to seek justice for their family dog, Fluffy, a Shih Tzu. In her emotional post, Chua pleaded for accountability, writing: “Justice for my mother’s beloved pet dog, FLUFFY, who was brut@lly murd3r3d inside a pet salon in Panabo.”
Based on the necropsy report, Fluffy died from strangulation, which caused his trachea to collapse. The report also revealed that the dog suffered multiple bruises, blood clots, a broken leg, and severe internal injuries — all signs of a violent attack.

Chua directly addressed the person responsible, urging them to face the consequences. “To the perpetrator, you know who you are. Please surrender yourself to the local authorities. Sorry is not enough. Sorry is not enough to return Fluffy’s life. He is not just a pet. He is like a brother to us. Fluffy is like a family to us,” she said, expressing her family’s grief and anger.
In response, the Panabo Pet Grooming Station issued a public apology. The shop confirmed that the groomer involved was one of their regular employees, who they believe may have been struggling with mental health issues at the time of the incident. They stated that the groomer has been terminated and assured the public that they are fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that the groomer will face criminal charges under the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, which protects animals from abuse, neglect, and cruelty. As of now, the suspect remains at large. Authorities continue to track down the groomer to ensure justice for Fluffy and to bring peace of mind to the grieving family.
The case has sparked widespread outrage online, with many pet owners expressing sympathy for Chua’s family and calling for stricter measures to protect animals from violence and mistreatment — especially in places where pets are expected to be safe, like grooming salons.
