Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Interim Release Plea of Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President supports a house arrest for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte in an underground bunker in Davao City.
Vice Pres. Duterte believes that the International Criminal Court can allegedly no longer secure former Pres. Duterte inside the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands. She previously claimed that the Philippine Embassy officials allegedly entered the ICC detention center through an alleged fake “welfare check” and interviewed her father.

Following the said alleged incident, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte warned the ICC and the Philippine government to prepare to answer if former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte dies during his detention. According to her, she received a report that information about the former President was allegedly sent to Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She accused the President of being allegedly behind the said sham “welfare check” on her father.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is faced with murder charges “as crimes against humanity” filed by the ICC prosecution panel. He is detained under the custody of the ICC since March and there is a pending interim release plea filed by his camp.
The court has yet to decide on the interim release application. Duterte’s camp is ready to accept any condition from the ICC over his interim release. His lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, claimed that the former President is allegedly suffering from a ‘cognitive impairment’ and is supposedly unable to recall events, places, and even members of his family.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke anew on the continued detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and his interim release bid. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President claimed that the ICC can allegedly no longer secure her father.
“Hindi kaya ng ICC na i-secure ang dating pangulong Duterte. Keeping him in without a trial date, without a date for confirmation of charges, it’s just plain cruelty. Pinapahirapan nila ‘yung tao. Naka-detain siya para ba siyang kinulong nang hindi siya na-convict,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also prefers a house arrest for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City. Based on the report, she agrees even on placing her father in a house arrest in an underground bunker. According to her, they will make sure that he attends the hearing.
“Kahit house arrest ‘yan doon, kahit na gusto ng ICC na ilibing sa ilalim ng bunker ‘yan, ‘yung house arrest niya walang problema sa amin, gagawin namin ‘yan,” the younger Duterte said.

Previously, amid the continued detention of the former President, former presidential spokesman Harry Roque claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte wishes to die in Davao. His former spokesman is an asylum seeker in The Netherlands amid a pending arrest warrant issued by a local court in the Philippines.
