Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Political Parties
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President revealed that the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino or PDP political party of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is inviting her to join them in the 2028 Elections.
Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government now, there are already a lot of talks about the 2028 presidential race. Undeniably, Vice Pres. Duterte is one of those who are eyed to have the potential to win the next presidential race based on the different surveys conducted.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously claimed that his arrest and the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court (ICC) can allegedly lead to the presidency of his daughter, Vice Pres. Duterte, very soon or in the future. Currently, the elder Duterte is detained in the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands since March.
The former President is facing an accusation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration. Despite his arrest and his detention, he maintained that everything that he did during his term was for the country and the Filipino people.
Amid her father’s ICC detention, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is ready to campaign for her if she runs in the 2028 Elections. According to the Vice President, her father even wishes that he is already out from the ICC detention by then so he could really join the campaign sorties. He assured her of his support.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is the chairman of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino or more popularly known as the PDP. Amid his ICC detention, he has requested his children to campaign for the senatorial bets of the political party — which the Duterte siblings fervently did.
Recently, during an interview, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about the political parties who are trying to win her to join them in the 2028 Elections. According to the Vice President, her father’s PDP is really the most persistent.
Vice Pres. Duterte claimed that the PDP is trying to convince her almost every week to join them in the party. However, according to the Vice President, she remains uninterested to join a national party. During the interview, she stressed that her decision not to join a party after she left LAKAS was right as she does not have to be pretentious towards politicans.
“Ang masigasig talaga at intent gyud is the PDP. Halos linggo-linggo nila ako kinakausap at ini-imbita na sumali sa partido nila. At naisip ko tama na rin siguro ‘yun na ano, na hindi na ako sumali ng partido pagkatapos kung umalis ng LAKAS, that way hindi ako kailangan makipag-plastikan sa mga pulitiko,” Duterte said.
During the interview, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that she remains with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago. She stressed that the HNP is a regional party in Davao. According to her, there are just two (2) of them now in the said regional party.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the Philippine government now is allegedly ‘unstable’. According to her, the focus of the government is on the next elections.
