Former Pres. Duterte remains detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands for more than six (6) months now. The former Chief Executive is faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity over the drug war of his administration.

Despite his arrest and his ICC detention, the former President maintained that everything that he did was for the country and the Filipino people. Amid his detention, the lawyer of former Pres. They have applied for his interim release while the legal proceedings are ongoing.

The ICC postponed the confirmation of charges hearing of Duterte after his camp claimed that the former President is allegedly suffering from a ‘cognitive impairment’. Last month, all four (4) children of the former Chief Executive visited him altogether. It seemed like a Duterte family reunion inside the ICC detention facility.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, it was really her father’s wish that they visit him altogether. However, shortly after the said visit, the Duterte family claimed that the ICC allegedly barred them from disclosing information over their visits to the former President inside the ICC detention center.

Currently, only the youngest among the Duterte siblings, Kitty Duterte, is in The Hague, Netherlands. Davao 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, and acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte are back in the Philippines.
