Motivational Speaker Gave Health Tips to Night Shift Workers to Avoid Fatal Diseases
A motivational speaker gave health tips for night shift workers to help them avoid serious illnesses.
Recently, Marco Reyes, RChE, a Facebook user, shared health advice for employees who work at night. The post quickly went viral on social media and received a lot of reactions from the online community.
Marco Reyes, a registered chemical engineer and Facebook user, shared tips on how to lessen the health risks that come with working at night. He explained that working overnight can increase the risk of several illnesses, including diabetes, heart disease, obesity, stroke, and even certain types of cancer.

This is because our bodies follow a natural circadian clock, which is designed for sleeping at night and staying awake during the day.
When sleeping, eating, and working patterns are disrupted, it can negatively affect overall health. But according to Reyes, there is a simple way to reduce these risks: avoid eating during your shift.
Reyes suggested that night shift workers eat breakfast when they arrive home in the morning, then sleep. After waking up midday, they can have lunch, rest again, and eat dinner before going to work. During the entire night shift, however, no food should be consumed.

Reyes based his advice on a study that shows eating during daytime hours helps keep the body’s internal clocks, the central clock in the brain and the peripheral clocks in other organs, properly aligned.
Misaligned eating schedules can raise blood sugar, blood pressure, and stress hormones, which may lead to chronic illnesses over time.
Timing meals properly can go a long way in protecting health and preventing serious illnesses for those working through the night.
