SARA DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte once again captured the attention of netizens, not for politics this time, but for a lighthearted viral video featuring a Louis Vuitton-branded kitchen rag.
Sara Duterte appeared before the House of Representatives on Tuesday for the budget briefing of her office, marking a rare attendance that immediately drew attention.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is seeking a proposed budget of ₱902.8 million for 2026. Duterte, who waived the customary privilege of parliamentary courtesy, allowed lawmakers to question her directly regarding the agency’s proposed allocation.
The session, however, became heated when minority lawmakers pressed Duterte about her office’s use of confidential funds. The Vice President declined to provide answers, citing ongoing legal issues tied to the impeachment case filed against her.
“This is the subject of an impeachment trial, and I would not like to discuss the defense for the impeachment trial,” Duterte told congressmen during the hearing.
Her response was immediately challenged by House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Representative Antonio Tinio. He clarified that there is no active impeachment process at the moment, saying, “Wala pong impeachment trial sa kasalukuyan. In fact it is archived in the Senate.”
The debate highlighted the lingering legal battle surrounding Duterte. The Supreme Court has yet to resolve a motion for reconsideration that seeks to reverse its earlier decision declaring the impeachment complaint unconstitutional. Until the high court issues its final ruling, the matter remains in limbo.
Despite the political controversies, Duterte continues to capture public attention in lighter moments. Recently, she went viral after a video surfaced showing her amused by a kitchen rag in her home, which bore the logo of luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. The clip quickly made rounds online, drawing mixed reactions from netizens.
