Korina Sanchez Reacts to Gerald-Julia Split
KORINA SANCHEZ – The veteran broadcast journalist expressed her sadness over the breakup of celebrity couple Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto. The revelation came during the closing segment of her program Agenda on Bilyonaryo News Channel, where Korina shared her genuine thoughts about the separation.
Korina admitted that she felt disappointed upon hearing the news, saying that she had always believed Gerald and Julia were a perfect match. She also revealed that both actors are her friends, which made the breakup even more personal for her.
“Nanghihinayang ako talaga kay Gerald at saka kay Julia… bagay na bagay sila,” she said, clearly saddened by the news. Her co-host, Pinky Webb, agreed with her sentiments and pointed out how long the couple had been together. “Ang tagal nila together,” Pinky remarked.
Korina further reflected on the relationship, noting that Gerald and Julia were a beautiful couple and that, for a period, she even believed they were engaged. However, she acknowledged that sometimes, even the best relationships must come to an end.
On Thursday, September 18, the talent agencies representing both Gerald and Julia confirmed their breakup through an official statement. They clarified that the decision was mutual and that there was no animosity between the two.
The announcement surprised many fans, especially since Gerald had previously spoken openly about his deep love for Julia. In a 2023 interview with Korina, Gerald admitted that Julia was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. When asked if Julia was the woman he planned to marry, he confidently said yes.
He explained that being with Julia brought a significant change in his life, saying that when a relationship is real, you can feel it and notice how your priorities shift and become clearer, allowing you to see life differently.
