Inka Magnaye Breaks Silence on Corruption Rumors
INKA MAGNAYE – The well-known voice actor and influencer has spoken out to defend her boyfriend, Mat Crespo, amid corruption allegations involving the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Mat, a civil engineer at the DPWH Iloilo office, became the subject of controversy after an anonymous Reddit post on September 12, 2025, claimed that he was quickly promoted because his late father was a former district engineer. The post also accused Inka of staying silent about the corruption issue due to Mat’s position.
After the post went viral, Inka’s social media accounts were flooded with hateful comments, forcing her to disable the comment sections. However, this decision only fueled more speculation. In a heartfelt video posted on September 20, Inka explained why it took her time to respond, sharing that she had been out of town for work and needed to process the situation first.
Inka firmly denied the allegations, clarifying that Mat is not involved in any corrupt activities. She emphasized that while Mat does work for the DPWH, not everyone in the agency is corrupt. According to her, Mat earned his position through hard work. He was a scholar in college, passed his civil engineering board exams on his first try, later earned a master’s degree, and regularly attends seminars to further improve his skills. She added that Mat is a private person, which is why she has rarely spoken publicly about his work.
Addressing criticisms about their lifestyle, Inka stated that they do not live extravagantly, own luxury cars, or take lavish trips abroad. She expressed frustration over being judged based on a single anonymous post, stressing that speculation is not the same as fact.
While acknowledging the public’s anger over corruption, Inka pleaded with people not to generalize or harass innocent employees. She concluded by calling for accountability, saying she and Mat also want those truly responsible for misusing public funds to face justice.
