Fake Dentist Arrested for Using Super Glue on Veneers

Woman Poses as Dentist, Destroys Clients’ Teeth with Super Glue

FLORIDA – A 35-year-old woman from Pinellas Park, identified as Emely Martinez, was arrested on August 20, 2025, for performing dental procedures without a license. Martinez promoted herself on social media as a “smile makeover expert”, attracting customers with extremely low prices for full-mouth veneer treatments.

According to a report by Fox13 News on August 29, several clients from Pinellas and Hillsborough counties filed complaints after suffering severe dental damage. Investigations revealed that Martinez attached veneers using Krazy Glue, a type of household super glue that is not safe for medical use.

Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain or resin shells bonded to the front of teeth to improve their appearance and fix cosmetic issues such as cracks, gaps, discoloration, or chipped teeth. This procedure is permanent because a thin layer of enamel must be removed before applying the veneers. Normally, veneers are attached using dental cement and a special curing light, and they can last 10 to 20 years when done properly.

Licensed clinics typically charge $900 to $1,500 per tooth (₱51,525 to ₱85,875), making a full-mouth treatment very expensive. In contrast, Martinez offered the same service for just $2,500 (₱143,126) for the entire mouth — a price so low that many clients were easily persuaded without checking her credentials.

Unfortunately, many of her clients experienced worsened dental problems, including infections and severe damage. One client even required emergency surgery to repair the harm caused by the improper procedure. Local dentist Dr. Christopher Bulnes explained the danger. Adding to the frustration, Martinez reportedly refused to take responsibility and did not return the payments made by her clients.

Police later confirmed that Martinez has no formal dental training or education and is not licensed to practice dentistry in Florida. This was not her first offense; she had previously been arrested in March for providing unlicensed dental services.

Martinez now faces charges of fraud and practicing dentistry without an active license, and authorities are urging the public to verify a provider’s credentials before undergoing any dental procedure.
