Ellis Co Urges Father Zaldy Co to Face Corruption Allegations

Zaldy Co Urged by Son to Return and Face the People

ELLIS CO – The 24-year-old Bicolano fashion designer and founder of the clothing brand Dot Archives, has publicly spoken out against his father, Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, who is currently facing serious corruption allegations. These accusations involve billions of pesos allegedly taken from ghost and substandard flood control projects, as well as questionable budget insertions under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In an Instagram post, Ellis urged his father to return to the Philippines, face the public, and address the accusations directly. Zaldy Co, who left the country in July 2025 reportedly for medical treatment in the United States, has denied any wrongdoing. However, his exact whereabouts remain unknown.

Ellis began his statement by expressing his solidarity with Filipinos who have been protesting against corruption. He admitted that while he carries the family name, he has always tried to distance himself from politics and his father’s work. Ellis shared that he moved out of his parents’ home at a young age, chose not to go to college, and has been financially independent since he was 16. Despite being born into privilege, he emphasized his commitment to giving back to his community and focusing on his fashion career.

Ellis condemned corruption in all its forms, acknowledging the public’s anger and frustration. He revealed that the recent allegations about his father’s involvement in corruption caused him deep personal conflict, as he struggled between loyalty to his family and his own principles. He said he learned about the accusations at the same time as the public and needed time to fully process the situation before speaking out.

According to Ellis, his relationship with his father began to change when Zaldy entered politics, creating emotional distance between them. He expressed deep shame over the scandal and stressed that anyone proven guilty—regardless of who they are—should face justice, including his father.

Ellis urged Zaldy Co to return home, face the courts, and take responsibility for his actions. He stated that if speaking out causes him to be disowned by his family, he is willing to accept that consequence rather than remain silent while millions of Filipinos continue to suffer.
