Malacañang, OVP Clueless Where Is Sara Duterte amid Senate Session over her Impeachment Case

WHERE IS SARA DUTERTE NOW – Malacañang claimed that they have no information about the whereabouts of the Vice President now.

The Senate recently, held a session wherein the senators presented their sides over the fate of the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. It came after the Supreme Court ruling declaring Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment as “unconstitutional” for not following the one-year rule.

During the Senate session, known Duterte ally Senator and Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta moved to dismiss the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He cited the decision of the Supreme Court. He also claimed that he allegedly does not know there was already a complaint against Duterte when he was still a member of the House of Representatives.

However, Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto moved to table Marcoleta’s motion but it it did not get the majority votes from their fellow lawmakers. Only five (5) senators supported the motion of Sotto to table Marcoleta’s motion.

The motion of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was changed from dismissing the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to archiving it. The Senate voted to archive Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment case with a 19-4 voting. One (1) senator abstained from making a vote citing the pending Motion for Reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives before the Supreme Court.

Amid the Senate session, the Office of the Vice President is seemingly clueless where Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is at that time. Her spokesperson, Atty. Ruth Castelo, said she would verify the location of the Vice President as she is unsure if she might just be in the office. Malacañang also does not know where the Vice President is now.

Based on a post on Inquirer, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that they have no information over the whereabouts of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to her, the most recent travel permits issued to the Vice President were for her overseas trips to the Netherlands where her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is currently detained and South Korea where she met with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) there in a gathering.

The Malacañang press official confirmed that they received reports that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is planning to travel to Kuwait. However, based on the post, Duterte has yet to file a request for a travel authorization.

“Mayroon daw balak ang bise presidente na pumunta sa Kuwait ng August 8, pero as we speak wala pa pong naihahain na request for travel authority ang bise presidente,” Castro said.

Recently, amid the opening of the Congress discussion over the national budget, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office spoke about their proposed budget of P903 million for 2026.
