Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Assures Public OVP Continues To Serve PH

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President asserted that the Office of the Vice President or OVP continues to work despite their reduced budget.

Following the Supreme Court declaring the Articles of Impeachment against Duterte as “unconstitutional” for not following the one-year rule in the Constitution, the Senate decided over the matter as well. During the August 6, the senators were given the chance to speak their side over the issue as they made a vote.

Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta moved to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. However, Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto was quick to move to table Marcoleta’s motion.

Sotto stressed that there is a pending Motion for Reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives before the Supreme Court. Thus, the decision of the high court is allegedly not final. However, only five (5) senators voted in support of the Senate Minority Leader’s motion resulting to its defeat.

The Senate proceeded to voting on the motion of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta which was changed from the dismissal to the archiving of the impeachment complaint against the Vice President. Majority of the senators supported the motion of Marcoleta:

Following the decision of the Senate, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte thanked God for the ruling as per Sen. Imee Marcos. The presidential Sister claimed that they keep in touch through text messaging and the Vice President usually sends Biblical quotations.

Recently, speaking to the press, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte assured that the work in her office continues. Based on a post of GMA News, she stressed that the OVP never stopped working.

“Patuloy pa rin kami sa pagtatrabaho namin hindi naman kami tumigil sa Office of the Vice President sa pagtatrabaho,” the Vice President said.

Furthermore, based on the post, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also highlighted that she and her office continued working despite the reduction in their budget for this year. To recall, the national government cut the proposed P2 billion budget of the OVP for 2025 by P1.3 billion leaving them with a P700 million fund for this year.

“Kahit na nakita ninyo na binawasan ‘yung budget tumuloy pa rin ‘yung trabaho namin. Lahat ng personnel including the Vice President sa Office of the Vice President are ready and willing to serve our country,” Duterte said.

Previously, during the set date for the Senate to decide on the fate of her impeachment case following the Supreme Court ruling, there were questions that asked where is Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to which Malacañang reacted.
