Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Accusations about Misused Confidential Funds
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that they answer allegations over the Confidential Funds in the proper forum and venue.
The impeachment case against Vice Pres. Duterte was archived by the Senate after a 19-4-1 voting. Most senators supported their votes to archive the impeachment complaint with the ruling of the Supreme Court that declared the Articles of Impeachment against the Vice President as “unconstitutional”.
According to the high court, the impeachment complaint did not follow the one-year rule in the Constitution. Four (4) impeachment complaints were filed against Duterte in 2024. On the other side, the complainants argued that the other impeachment complaints were archived.
Nineteen (19) senators supported the motion of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta to archive the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Four (4) senators opposed the motion and one (1) senator abstained from the voting.

The House of Representatives filed a Motion for Reconsideration over the ruling of the Supreme Court. The senators who opposed Marcoleta’s motion stressed that the Senate should exercise “prudence and patience” and wait for the final ruling of the high court. Based on a report on Inquirer, another group of complainants recently filed an MR. The fifth group of petitioners is composed of priests, lawyers, and civic society organizations.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke anew on the accusations of misused Confidential Funds against her. The Vice President stressed that they are ready to answer in the proper forum if there is a case against her. According to her, her defense team was ready to address the accusations of the House prosecutors.
“Kung may kaso, sa tamang forum mag-eexplain kami. Nagsabi kami noong nag-file sila ng articles of impeachment nila na ready ang defense team na sumagot sa accusations ng prosecutors ng House,” she said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed when the impeachment case against her was transmitted to the Supreme Court, they provided all the requirements of the high court. According to her, allegations should not just be made anywhere and they will not address accusations arbitrarily.
“Noong umakyat sa Supreme Court ang kaso, lahat ng hiningi ng Supreme Court ay ibinigay namin. Doon sa mga tamang forum at tamang venue, nagbibigay kami ng saktong sagot at nagbibigay kami… ng explanation ng mga accusations,” the Vice President added.
Previously, known Duterte ally Senator Robin Padilla who voted for the impeachment case to be archived admitted that what he really wants is the dismissal of the case.
