Male Patient in Africa Discovers Knife Inside His Chest After Eight Years
Doctors discovered a knife lodged inside the chest of a 44-year-old male patient from Tanzania, East Africa, where it had remained for eight long years.
The man sought medical help after noticing pus coming out of his right nipple. Strangely, he did not experience severe chest pain, breathing problems, coughing, or fever. However, he recalled being involved in a fight nearly a decade ago, where he sustained injuries to his face, back, chest, and abdomen.
At that time, he was given only basic first aid at a local health center. His wounds were stitched, but due to the limited facilities, no body scans were performed. He recovered and went on with life, unaware that a knife blade had been left inside his chest.

When doctors examined him recently, an X-ray revealed a metallic object embedded on the right side of his chest. To their shock, it was a knife surrounded by infected tissue and pus. Surgeons quickly performed an operation to remove it, carefully cleaning the area and extracting the blade that had been sitting inside his body for years.
The surgery was successful, and the patient remained under hospital observation for several days. After ten days of monitoring and treatment, he was discharged in stable condition.
The United States National Library of Medicine documented the case showing how hidden injuries can remain undetected for years, especially in areas where medical facilities are limited.

It also proves how resilient the human body can be, managing to survive even with a dangerous foreign object lodged inside. For the Tanzanian man, the challenge ended with relief, finally free from the hidden danger he had unknowingly carried for nearly a decade.
