LGBTQ Member Expresses Frustration Over Alleged Restroom Discrimination
An LGBTQ Member cries over alleged discrimination she experienced inside a restroom at Marymart Mall in Iloilo City Proper.
Recently, Ayumi Nicole, a Facebook user and a member of the LGBTQ community raised her concerns over alleged discrimination. The post garnered various reactions from the internet users.
In the video, a heated exchange with a janitress could be heard. Nicole questioned why she was not allowed to enter and use the women’s restroom. According to her, she only intended to use the facility but was stopped by the janitress, who later called the mall’s security guard to intervene.

“I attempted to use the women’s restroom at your establishment. However, the janitress on duty stopped me from entering and treated me as though I had no right to be there,” Nicole said.
Nicole shared that the incident left her feeling humiliated and traumatized. For her, it was not only about being barred from entering the restroom but also about being treated unfairly in a public space where everyone should feel safe and respected.
Following the encounter, Nicole uploaded the video on social media to call the attention of mall management. She appealed for proper action to be taken against the staff member involved, hoping the incident would serve as a reminder for establishments to exercise sensitivity and respect toward LGBTQ individuals.
Some netizens extended their support and sympathy to Nicole, while others discussed the issue of inclusivity and the need for clear policies in public establishments.
As of this writing, the management of Marymart Mall has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, advocates are once again emphasizing the importance of creating safe spaces for the LGBTQ community, where people can move freely without fear of being singled out or shamed.
