Geo Ong Defends Privacy After Drone Incident by Mangyan Travel Vlog
GEO ONG – The popular social media personality and content creator called out Mangyan Travel Vlog for invading his family’s privacy by flying a drone over their private yacht without permission and sharing the video online.
The video, which showed Ong and his family during a private moment on their yacht, was later taken down from Mangyan Travel Vlog’s Facebook page. Ong was very upset about the incident, pointing out that it was disrespectful and could have been much worse if someone had been changing clothes or bathing without knowing. He said the drone operator acted “rude” and careless.
Ong made it clear that respecting privacy is very important, especially in private places. He also said that if they defended themselves against this kind of intrusion, they should not be blamed. Their reaction was justified.

Another social media figure, Jeryl Leo Salvador Mabaquiao, also spoke up. He reminded Mangyan Travel Vlog that flying a drone over someone’s private property without permission is against Philippine laws. He mentioned the Data Privacy Act, the Civil Code, and regulations from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) regarding drones. Jeryl warned that breaking these laws could lead to criminal charges, such as illegal drone use, unjust vexation, and even cybercrime charges. There could also be lawsuits seeking damages.

Jeryl gave Mangyan Travel Vlog a clear warning to take down the video and any related posts on all his platforms immediately. If he doesn’t comply, he could face official complaints and court cases. He was told to resolve this quickly before it goes to court.

Meanwhile, the Data Privacy Act of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 10173) is a law that protects people’s personal information. It requires companies to ask permission before collecting information, keep it safe, and allow people to view and correct their own data. The law also punishes those who misuse personal data. The National Privacy Commission ensures the law is enforced. In short, this law helps keep personal information private and holds companies responsible for protecting it.
