After Months, Duterte Family Complete in a Visit To Dad Rodrigo Inside the ICC Detention Center
DUTERTE FAMILY – All four (4) children of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited him inside the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands.
The lawyers of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently renewed their request for his ICC interim release to an undisclosed country. The former Chief Executive is detained under the custody of the ICC since March after the Philippine authorities assisted the International Criminal Police Investigation (Interpol) for his arrest.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos and the government were heavily-criticized over the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. Malacañang previously defended Marcos Jr. saying that the government only acted on his arrest in lieu of its commitment to the Interpol.
Duterte is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration which is linked to several deaths. Amid the former President’s detention, the Duterte family members are taking turns in visiting him inside the ICC detention facility in The Hague.
Usually, one of his children will be in The Hague to visit him inside the ICC detention facility for a certain period of time until another sibling arrives to take the role. Meanwhile, recently, the Duterte family had what seems to be a reunion inside the ICC detention facility.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, all four (4) Duterte siblings were allowed by the ICC to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte inside the detention center. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, it was really their father’s request if they could visit him altogether.
“Kung ano ang makakapagpasaya sa kanya, iyon lang ang gagawin. So nag-request siya ng personal na pagkikita na kaming lima so binigay namin sa kanya iyon,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Duterte further expressed that their father was happy over their visit. The Duterte family was complete once again on Wednesday since March when the former President was arrested. Based on the report, the Vice President shared that they were quite loud during their visit as there were instances when three or four of them will be speaking together.
“Medyo maingay kanina kasi tatlo, apat kami na sabay sabay na nagsasalita. At one point sinabi ni Baste na hindi na ako magsasalita kasi walang nakikinig sa akin. Medyo siguro namiss niya iyong ganoong discussions. Labo labo, sabay sabay nagsasalita lahat. Masaya siya na nakapunta kaming apat,” Vice Pres. Duterte said.
The Duterte family talked mostly about family matters and their plans during the visit. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed they did not talk about politics. Previously, amid his detention, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is “extremely proud” of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte following the Supreme Court ruling over the impeachment case against her.
