Calasiao Relief Claim Stub Praised for Giving Credit to Taxpayers

Netizens Applaud Calasiao Relief Stub Without Political Branding

A claim stub from Calasiao, Pangasinan went viral for stating that the relief goods came from taxpayers, not from any politician. The stub, shared by Information on Dagupan, was used during relief operations following floods caused by heavy rains.

People praised the stub for not showing any official’s name or photo. Instead, it simply said: “MULA SA BUWIS NG MAMAMAYAN NG CALASIAO.” Netizens, especially taxpayers, appreciated the honesty and transparency.

The post received over 33,000 reactions, 4,800 shares, and 729 comments, with users saying this should be the standard. Some comments read: “This is how its done!” and “Ganito dapat. Galing sa TAXPAYERS ang AYUDA.”

Mayor Patrick Agustin Caramat was praised for leading with humility. He regularly updates the public about relief efforts but avoids placing his name or face on any distributed aid. Even cash assistance programs for senior citizens aged 80 to 95 are done without political branding.

Photos also showed the mayor personally joining relief operations to check on affected communities. On July 29, he thanked everyone involved in the relief efforts. He acknowledged the dedication of local staff, national agencies, NGOs, and volunteers who helped despite the bad weather. He noted that no one backed out—from preparing supplies to evacuating families and distributing aid.

Mayor Caramat sincerely thanked everyone, saying their service made a big impact. He ended with a message of appreciation and a blessing for all who helped.

Meanwhile, last month, storms Crising, Emong, Dante, and the intensified Habagat caused severe floods and landslides across the Philippines. Over 7.6 million people were affected, 37 died, and damages reached nearly ₱12 billion. The hardest-hit areas included Central Luzon, Ilocos, and Calabarzon. Hundreds of areas were placed under a state of calamity. Relief efforts are ongoing, but full recovery will take time.
