Latest Update on Tropical Storm Crising from PAGASA
LATEST UPDATE – Tropical Storm Crising has slightly strengthened as it moves west-northwest toward mainland Cagayan and the Babuyan Islands, according to the latest weather report from PAGASA issued on July 18, 2025.
As of 10 AM, Crising was located approximately 195 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h. The storm is moving at 25 km/h, and its strong winds extend up to 500 kilometers from its center.
Signal No. 2 remains in effect over areas like Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Batanes, and parts of the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, where gale-force winds may pose minor to moderate threats to life and property within the next 24 hours. Signal No. 1 covers nearby provinces, warning of strong winds expected within 36 hours, with minimal to minor potential damage.

Heavy rainfall is expected, especially in areas affected by the tropical storm and the Southwest Monsoon. Gale-force winds may intensify in coastal and mountainous areas, particularly those directly exposed to the winds. Even areas outside the storm’s core—such as Metro Manila and parts of the Visayas and Mindanao—may experience strong gusts due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon over the coming days.

Communities in low-lying coastal areas of Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur face a moderate risk of storm surges up to 2 meters high. PAGASA also warns of dangerous sea conditions, with waves reaching up to 6 meters around Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. All vessels, especially small boats, are strongly advised to avoid sailing.

Tropical Storm Crising is expected to make landfall over mainland Cagayan or the Babuyan Islands later today or tonight. It will likely cross northern Luzon and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow, July 19. The storm is forecasted to strengthen into a Severe Tropical Storm within 24 hours. PAGASA urges the public, especially those in high-risk areas, to stay alert, follow evacuation orders, and monitor official updates for their safety.
