Why TikToker Fhukerat Used His Passport as ID
FHUKERAT – The TikTok content creator went viral after using his passport as identification for a domestic flight.
In a video he posted, he was seen handing his passport to airport staff at the gate area. The clip quickly spread online and drew mixed reactions—some supportive, others mocking.
Many critics poked fun at him for using a passport on a local flight, leaving sarcastic comments like “International yurn?”, “Passport to Boracay?”, and even offensive remarks such as “Halatang Bisaya hahaha.” These comments sparked broader criticism online, particularly about the unfair stereotyping of Bisaya individuals.
In response, Fhukerat remained calm and used humor to address the backlash. He joked on Facebook that he would just bring a PSA document next time. He also made a TikTok video explaining his side. He shared that a passport is a valid, government-issued ID. While he also had his national ID with him, it was inside his wallet and difficult to access at that moment.
He added that he usually brings two IDs when traveling, especially for hotel check-ins where IDs are sometimes held temporarily. For him, carrying a passport was simply practical and nothing unusual. He questioned why such a harmless act had become an issue, pointing out that he didn’t harm anyone by doing it.
He ended the video lightheartedly, eating while telling viewers to mind their own business—and added jokingly that no one else was paying for his plane ticket anyway.
Despite the criticism, Fhukerat also received plenty of support. Many netizens, including satire pages, defended him and pointed out that passports are among the most legitimate forms of ID—arguably more reliable than some outdated laminated cards. Others condemned the regional discrimination, highlighting how the word “Bisaya” is often wrongly used as an insult.
As one comment put it, it’s better to be Bisaya with a passport than judgmental with nothing to contribute to anyone’s life.
