Cristy Fermin Apologizes, Case Withdrawn by Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan
SHARON CUNETA AND KIKO PANGILINAN – The Megastar and the senator have decided to withdraw the cyber libel case they filed against veteran showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin, seemingly signaling forgiveness. This development was shared by fellow showbiz personality Ogie Diaz in a Facebook post on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
According to Ogie, the couple officially dropped the case after Cristy Fermin issued a public apology on her YouTube channel. They later appeared in court to formally finalize the withdrawal. Cristy expressed her remorse, saying, “Kung nakapanakit tayo ng kalooban, marunong naman tayong humingi ng tawad.”
Ogie praised the peaceful resolution, noting that not all disputes need to be settled in court. “Pwede namang mag-usap nang puso-sa-puso. Hanggang sa pairalin ang pagpapatawad. Lalo na kung meron namang nabuong relationship noong araw pa,” he added. He also thanked the couple, saying, “Thank you, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and Mareng Mega.”

The case was originally filed on May 10, 2024, after Cristy made remarks that the couple found offensive. In response, Cristy commented on her show that libel cases are among the risks faced by media professionals. She said, “Kapag ikaw ay nasa ganyang mga linya katulad naming mga mamamahayag, naku, teritoryal po ang mga ganitong kaso. ‘Yong libel case, cyber libel.”
She also jokingly remarked that the lawsuits seemed to be “leveling up,” referencing her past issues involving celebrities like Sarah Lahbati and Bea Alonzo, and now, Sharon Cuneta. “Sino po kaya ang susunod? Si Julia Roberts na?” she quipped.

Despite the legal issue, Cristy said she understood the couple’s perspective and held no ill feelings. The peaceful resolution serves as a reminder that mutual understanding and sincere apologies can go a long way in restoring peace.
