Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Recent Visit to Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Inside the ICC Detention Facility
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President reacted to the attempt to link him to the case of the missing sabungeros.
Former Pres. Duterte is detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court for more than 100 days now. The former Chief Executive is faced with an accusation of crime against humanity for the war on drugs of his administration.
Amid his ICC detention, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte explained to his grandson that he just did things for his country that is why he is currently detained. He stressed to the 12-year-old son of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that not all persons inside the detention are bad.
The lawyer of former Pres. Duterte sought for his ICC interim release but there are still no update about it until now. A group was also quick to urge the House of Representatives to oppose the interim release bid of the former President. Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla also believes that it is an appropriate request.
Currently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is in The Hague, Netherlands for visits to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President revealed that she told her father about the attempt to link him to the case of the missing sabungeros.
Justice Sec. Boying Remulla previously claimed that some people who have been involved in the alleged death squads during the Duterte drug war may supposedly be involved in the killings of the cockfighting enthusiasts. The authorities currently conduct search retrieval operations in Taal Lake after whistleblowers made claims that the bodies of sabungeros were allegedly thrown in the lake.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte tagged the attempt to link him to the case of the missing sabungeros as “preposterous” as per a report in GMA News. Previously, the Vice President also claimed that her father has given his last wish in case he dies during his ICC detention.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s last wish is “to be cremated” if he dies during his ICC detention. She also confirmed that her father has become very thin now to the extent of “skin and bones”. According to the Vice President, he lost his appetite on food.
