Chief of PNP Gives Update on Preparations for 4th SONA of Marcos Jr. this July 28
PNP – Philippine National Police chief Police General Nicolas Torre III announced that 12,000 personnel will be deployed for the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Bongbong Marcos Jr.
The 20th Congress is set to open this July 28. Pres. Bongbong Marcos will give his 4th annual address before the Congress, the government officials, and many other distinguished guests. Previously, the House of Representatives confirmed the sending out of invitations for the 4th SONA of Marcos Jr.

However, according to the House Secretary General’s office, the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed her absence on the 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Then, the OVP did not give the reason why the Vice President will skip the annual address of the Chief Executive for the second time around but the rift between the highest and second-highest officials in the country is no secret to the public.

Meanwhile, the House Secretary General’s office assured that they will still reserve a seat for Duterte in case the Vice President changes her mind. They also planned to allocate a holding office for her and her staff. However, recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that her South Korea gathering with the Filipinos abroad is confirmed and she won’t attend Marcos Jr.’s 4th SONA. Currently, the preparations are ongoing.
PNP chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III announced that around 12,000 personnel will be deployed to ensure the security at the 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on GMA News, the personnel to be deployed at the Batasang Pambansa include civilian support unit.
“Around 12,000 personnel are being deployed at iba pang law enforcement agencies and civilian support units para sa activity na ito sa House of Representatives,” Torre said.

PNP chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III is new to his position as the leader of the national police but he played a role in several huge cases prior to his appointment to the post. He was a significant person in the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Based on the report, according to the PNP chief, there have been no threats monitored so far. The national police is set to deploy an advance team on July 26 while the full deployment of the security personnel will be on July 27 until the early hours of the day for the 4th SONA of Marcos Jr.
“Wala tayong namo-monitor na threat. Natural lang ‘yang mga usual na intelligence estimate natin. Normal naman, usual lang. Ang pinaka threat natin ngayon weather,” Torre said.
The chief of the national police hopes that the weather will clear up so the deployment of the security personnel would be better. Aside from Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, known Duterte-ally Senator Bato dela Rosa claimed that he will also skip the 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
