Pacquiao Could Possibly Earn Over ₱1 Billion from Barrios Fight

Pacquiao’s Fight Against Barrios Expected to Earn Him ₱1 Billion

MANNY PACQUIAO – The 8-division world champion is expected to earn an estimated $17 to $20 million, or roughly ₱980 million to ₱1.1 billion, from his recent fight against Mario Barrios.

Although Pacquiao failed to win the WBC welterweight title, his return to boxing after four years still proved financially successful. Reports confirmed that Pacquiao is guaranteed $5 million (around ₱285 million) for the fight, with most of his earnings expected to come from his share of pay-per-view (PPV) revenues. According to sports analysts, Pacquiao’s total earnings could reach as high as $20 million, following trends seen in other major boxing events.

Despite the huge payday, the result of the fight was less than ideal. Their July 20 bout ended in a majority draw, with judges scoring the match 114-114, 114-114, and 115-113, favoring Barrios. Experts noted that Pacquiao slightly fell short in the match but still received praise for completing all 12 rounds, especially considering he is now 46 years old.

Before the fight, the People’s Champ clarified that his return to the ring was not just about money. He said he chose to fight again to protect his reputation and continue building his legacy.

Fans shared mixed reactions online. Some believed the fight was close and questioned the judges’ decision, saying Pacquiao still showed strength and skill throughout the match. Others pointed out that, despite his age, Pacquiao performed impressively and deserved respect, especially with his significant earnings. A few even joked that the draw might have been influenced by heavy betting on the match.

In the end, fans continued to hail Pacquiao as the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time), praising him for representing the Philippines proudly alongside fellow sports icon Efren Reyes.
