Josh Mojica Seeks Lighter Sanction After Viral Video
JOSH MOJICA – The businessman and social media personality who made headlines for recording a selfie video while driving his Porsche along EDSA is now appealing to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for a lighter penalty. Accompanied by his lawyer, Atty. Jose Marie Fabella, Mojica attended a hearing on July 10 at the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (LTO-IID).
Atty. Fabella emphasized that Mojica is a first-time offender and had no intention of endangering the public. While they accept any fair penalty per traffic laws, they are requesting that the LTO not impose a harsher punishment.
Renante Militante, chief of LTO-IID, clarified that Mojica’s 90-day license suspension is not a final penalty but a preventive measure while the case is under investigation. He explained that temporarily suspending a license helps avoid further incidents if the driver becomes involved in another violation. Additionally, Mojica’s Porsche has been placed under “alarm,” meaning no one can use it until the investigation is complete.

During the hearing, Mojica admitted to all the charges filed against him, including reckless driving, violating the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. He has since surrendered his driver’s license to the LTO.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Mojica shared that he had only owned the secondhand Porsche—worth ₱4.9 million—for five days when he recorded the now-viral video. He expressed regret for his actions, calling it a mistake and a valuable lesson. While he intended to inspire the youth by showing what’s possible through hard work, he admitted that in trying to show off, he failed to consider the laws he was breaking. Militante confirmed that Mojica’s case has been submitted for resolution.
