Jessica Sanchez Returns to AGT After 20 Years, Receives Golden Buzzer

Powerful Performance of Jessica Sanchez Earns Standing Ovation on AGT

JESSICA SANCHEZ – The Filipino-American singer many remember from American Idol has made a heartwarming comeback on America’s Got Talent. Jessica first auditioned for AGT when she was just 10 years old, making it to the semifinals. Now, 20 years later, she has returned to the stage to continue chasing her dream of singing.

Before her performance, Jessica opened up to the judges about how being eliminated as a child crushed her—but it also ignited her passion to keep singing. She admitted that over the years, she lost her love for music, feeling pressured to become what others wanted. But now, she has found herself again. “I know exactly who I am, and I know exactly what I want,” she said confidently.

Jessica also shared personal news—she’s married and recently found out she’s pregnant with her first child.

Her performance of Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” accompanied by a live band, wowed everyone. Her strong, clear voice earned loud cheers, a standing ovation, and praise from all four judges. Simon Cowell said the audience absolutely loved her, while Howie Mandel called her performance worth the 20-year wait. He told her she made the song her own and “blew the roof off the place.”

Mel B was left nearly speechless, calling Jessica’s voice “that of an angel.” Sofia Vergara said something special happened onstage and that Jessica’s return after all those years was meant to be. Sofia then hit the Golden Buzzer, sending Jessica straight to the live shows. Jessica cried as she and Sofia hugged onstage, overwhelmed with emotion.

Backstage, Sofia told her, “You deserve it.” Simon called Jessica a true star and praised her grit, determination, and talent.

Since finishing as the American Idol Season 11 runner-up, Jessica has performed in concerts, acted in Glee, and went viral for her cover of Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love” in 2023. That same year, she also performed at Miss Universe Philippines.
