Cosmetic Surgery Turns Fatal for Influencer Natalia Cavanellas
NATALIA CAVANELLAS – A well-known influencer and entrepreneur from Brazil, passed away in the middle of a cosmetic surgery in São Paulo. She was 40 years old. According to her doctor, Edgar Lopez, Natalia suffered a pulmonary embolism—a rare but serious complication—even though all safety measures were followed during the procedure.
Natalia was famous for her Instagram content about networking and business strategies. She was undergoing an elective cosmetic procedure when she suddenly went into cardiorespiratory arrest, as reported by CNN Brasil. Dr. Lopez explained that the surgery was performed in a proper hospital setting, with all pre-surgery tests completed and careful monitoring in place. He also shared that although complications like pulmonary embolism are uncommon, they can still occur, even when all protocols are followed.
Natalia’s husband, Rafael Thomazella, expressed his grief through a heartfelt Instagram post. Along with happy family photos, he described Natalia as a beautiful, independent, professional, and cheerful woman. He said that although she is no longer with them, she will always remain in their hearts and memories.
He also spoke about their daughter, Manoella, calling her the greatest gift from their marriage. He shared that their daughter reminds him of Natalia’s outgoing and loving nature. Rafael promised to always tell Manoella stories about her mother, saying Natalia was someone loved and admired by everyone who knew her.
Police have classified Natalia’s death as a “sudden death” and are still investigating the exact cause.
