Sen. Imee Marcos Continues Pursuit To Bring Former Pres. Rody Duterte Home
IMEE MARCOS – The presidential sister and Senator confirmed filing charges before the Ombudsman versus persons allegedly involved over Duterte’s arrest.
Contrary to what many people expected, Sen. Marcos sided with the Duterte family in the controversial arrest and transfer of custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court. Pres. Bongbong Marcos was heavily-criticized over the unexpected turn of events last March 11.
According to Sen. Marcos, she cannot accept what was done to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She claimed that the Philippine government turned over a Filipino citizen to a foreign entity. She also left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate endorsed by Marcos Jr.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte believes that Pres. Bongbong Marcos should be held accountable over her father’s arrest. After Sen. Imee Marcos left the Alyansa, she endorsed the presidential sister. The Senator’s bid for reelection was successful. She clinched the 12th spot in the results of the 2025 Midterm Senatorial race.
Following Duterte’s arrest, the Senator led an investigation in the Senate. It was even revealed during a hearing that the plane that brought former Pres. Duterte to The Hague was allegedly the same plane used by Pres. Marcos in one of his trips to Ilocos.
Sen. Imee Marcos submitted the findings of her Senate investigation over former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest to the Ombudsman. Based on a report on PhilStar, the presidential Sister also confirmed filing charges before the Ombudsman against the people who were allegedly involved in the arrest of the former President.
The Senator previously flew to The Hague after the 2025 Midterm Elections to visit former Pres. Duterte. However, the ICC denied her request to be permitted to visit the former Chief Executive.
Currently, Sen. Imee Marcos is in The Hague. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the presidential Sister wants to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte inside the ICC detention facility. She has already submitted a formal request to the ICC through the ICC legal team of the former President.
Amid the strong ties between Sen. Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte, there are still people who question if the presidential sister is really genuine in siding with the Dutertes. There are claims that the Senator immediately sided with the former President and his family after countless Filipinos opposed the controversial arrest and the transfer of custody of Duterte.
Duterte’s former spokesman, Harry Roque, also dared Sen. Imee Marcos to speak over the alleged drug use of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to erase all the doubts of the Die-hard Duterte Supporters or DDS about her. The Senator previously claimed that she never had a fight with her brother but she has an issue with the people around him.
During the campaign period for the 2025 Midterm polls, Sen. Imee Marcos claimed that the government now is allegedly ran by a Romualdez and an Araneta.
