Spokesperson of House of Representatives Speaks on Recent Claims of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
House of Representatives spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante junked the claim of Vice President Sara Duterte over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained under the custody of the ICC since March. He was arrested by the Philippine authorities after the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) sought the assistance of the PH government. On the same day that he was arrested, he was flown to Dubai en route for The Hague, Netherlands.
Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) where he is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity for the war on drugs of his administration. The former President maintains that everything he did during his term was for the Filipino people and the country.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the arrest and the ICC detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is allegedly based on gossips. The Vice President is currently in The Hague, Netherlands for scheduled visitations to her father.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also expressed her belief that the Marcos administration and the ICC supposedly used each other in the arrest of the former President. According to her, the Marcos admin allegedly wants to get rid of her father who was the “foremost staunch critic” of the admin prior to his arrest.
Recently, the House of Representatives spoke on the recent claims of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over her father’s arrest and detention under the ICC. Based on a report on GMA News, the spokesperson of the chamber, Atty. Princess Abante, stressed that the case of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte under the ICC is based on evidence.
“Well, ‘yung statement ni VP ay base sa ‘marites.’ Ang kaso doon sa ICC ay ayon sa ebidensya. Siguro [dapat] doon tayo tututok: kung ano iyong pinagbabasehan ng mga reklamo,” the spokesperson of the House of Representatives said.
Based on the report, Atty. Princess Abante stressed that the ICC case of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is based on evidence and the testimonies of witnesses and not gossips. She also claimed that the Duterte camp have their defense lawyer to assert her claim of alleged collusion between the Marcos admin and the ICC over her father’s arrest before the Court.
“Hindi ito galing sa anumang chismis. Ito ay galing sa mga ebidensya at mga testimonies ng mga witnesses,” Abante said.
Previously, Zambales First District Representative Jay Khonghun denied the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte about the alleged collusion between the Marcos admin and the ICC.
