Heart Evangelista Shows Support for Senate President Chiz
HEART EVANGELISTA – The actress and socialite showed how proud she was of her husband, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, after he kept his position as Senate President. On July 28, she posted on Instagram to share moments from the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which they both attended.
Before the SONA began, the Senate voted for its new leaders. Escudero got the support of 19 out of 24 senators, which helped him keep his role as Senate President. He ran against Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, who was supported by Senators Zubiri, Legarda, Lacson, and Hontiveros. Despite being rivals in the vote, Escudero still gave his vote to Sotto as a sign of respect.
Heart wasn’t the only one cheering for Escudero. His children, Quino and Chesi, were also present at the event, showing their support for their father’s big achievement.

After the voting, Escudero said that leading the Senate isn’t about just one person making decisions. He explained that all 24 senators have a part in making important choices. Each of them has a duty, a voice, and a role in shaping the future of the country.
Meanwhile, in his fourth SONA, President Marcos talked about important topics like safety, food supply, education, and being ready for disasters.

He said the Philippines is safer because of its strong friendships with countries like the U.S., Japan, and Australia, especially in the West Philippine Sea. He said rice will be sold at ₱20 per kilo in Kadiwa stores and warned sellers not to raise prices unfairly. He set aside ₱130 billion to help farmers.
For education, he wants to build 40,000 classrooms, give students free internet and SIM cards, and provide laptops and extra pay for teachers. He also plans to open more preschools, offer mental health help, and give free health checkups in schools.
To respond better to disasters, he promised stronger warning systems, safer evacuation areas, and quicker repairs of roads and flood control. He ended his speech by asking everyone to work together and keep helping improve people’s lives.
