GISELLE SANCHEZ – The actress, host, and former beauty queen expressed regret over portraying former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino in the controversial film Maid in Malacañang.
In a preview of the upcoming episode of The Men’s Room, Giselle admitted that she should have thought more carefully before accepting the role, especially as a graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP).
She shared that people questioned her decision, reminding her of her UP background, and she now feels she should have prioritized her values and her country over her career as an actress. “Pinagsisihan ko ‘yan,” she said. “Hindi ko inisip, e.”
Giselle also revealed that she was deeply affected by the backlash, even breaking down in tears over the harsh criticism. In a past Instagram post, she pleaded with the public not to bash her, saying she was only doing her job.
Despite her explanation, not everyone accepted her reasoning. Acclaimed director and playwright Floy Quintos was among the critics, stating that Maid in Malacañang is not a true work of art, but merely a piece meant to provoke and offend. The film has stirred strong emotions, and Giselle’s involvement continues to draw mixed reactions.
