Amid the issue between them, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed she has no ill feelings with Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to her, she has a problem with his performance as the leader of the country. She also previously claimed that she will not ask for a bigger budget for her office in 2026 as she does not expect it to be granted citing that she is not an ally of the Marcos admin.

Recently, the spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President, Atty. Ruth Castelo, claimed that the government not funding the programs of the OVP is allegedly a “disservice to the country”. According to her, the president and the vice president have the same mandate and the second-highest official has to be as ready as the Chief Executive.

Recently, Malacañang reacted to the remarks of the spokesperson of the OVP. Based on a report on Inquirer, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is open to any impactful and good suggestions from the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

“Welcome po kung anuman po ang suhestiyon na makabuluhan, magandang suhestiyon na magmumula sa OVP. Hindi po ito tinatanggihan at hindi po sinasara ng Pangulo ang pintuan sa Bise Presidente,” Castro said.

According to the Malacañang official, all worthy suggestions are welcome especially if they will be helpful to the nation. Based on the report, Atty. Claire Castro also recalled that it was Vice Pres. Sara Duterte herself who refused to share her knowledge as she does not want to help Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Currently, the Vice President is faced with a looming impeachment trial. According to the OVP, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is ‘ready and eager’ to present her evidence in the impeachment trial.
