Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Remarks of Sen. Robin Padilla at Kuala Lumpur
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed she was also surprised by Senator Robin Padilla campaigning for her tandem with Sen. Imee Marcos.
Some incumbent senators in the Senate are known as allies of the Duterte family. There is even a so-called “Duterte bloc” in the incoming 20th Congress now. It is expected that the said bloc will be composed of senators Bong Go, Bato dela Rosa, and Robin Padilla among others.
Sen. Imee Marcos also previously claimed she will join the “Duterte bloc” in the Senate. The Presidential Sister sided with the Duterte family in the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte which earned her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, massive criticisms. She stressed that she cannot accept what was done to the former President.
Sen. Marcos left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate which was endorsed by the Marcos administration. She also opened a Senate investigation on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte and even asked the Ombudsman to investigate five (5) officials of the current administration.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte campaigned for Sen. Imee Marcos whom she described as different from her brother. It is no secret to the public that the Vice President and the Senator were the ones who were already friends even before the BBM-Sara tandem in 2022.
Following the 2025 Midterm Elections where she won as the 12th senator in the senatorial race, Sen. Imee Marcos joined Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in The Hague. The Vice President had scheduled visits with her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Recently, Sen. Marcos and Sen. Robin Padilla also joined Vice Pres. Duterte in attending the Philippine Independence Day celebration in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the said event, the three (3) politicians each delivered a message in front of the Filipino community.
Sen. Robin Padilla claimed that he will be the campaign manager of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos in 2028. He asked the Filipinos present at the event to campaign for them to their families in the Philippines.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the remarks of Sen. Robin Padilla about her and Sen. Imee Marcos. Based on a post of ABS-CBN News on social media, the Vice President claimed that she was also surprised by the Sara-Imee tandem raised by Senator Padilla.
“Nagulat din ako. Nagulat din ako sa Sara-Imee ni Senator Robin at nung umakyat sa stage si Senator Imee at tinanong siya ni Robin, ‘Uy ano ba iyan?’ Tapos sinabi ni Senator Robin, ‘Ah basta um-oo ka na lang’. So hindi ko alam kung anong nasa isip ni Senator Robin Padilla,” she said.
At the event, the president sister also spoke. Sen. Imee Marcos revealed why she and Sen. Robin Padilla did not wear their impeachment robes when they took their oath as senator judges of the impeachment court in the trial against Vice Pres. Duterte.
