Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Gives Independence Day 2025 Message to Filipinos
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President, in her Independence Day message, called on the Filipinos to protect our freedom.
One of the regular holidays in the Philippine calendar this 2025 is the Independence Day which is celebrated every 12th of June. Today, the Filipinos recall the bravery and the triumph of the Filipino heroes who fought even to the point of losing their lives for the freedom of the country.
Classes in all levels in schools and work in both the public and private establishments across the nation are cancelled today so the Filipinos have the opportunity to join in the 127th anniversary celebration of the Independence Day or the Araw ng Kalayaan. Today, the people commemorates the first time when the PH flag was raised in Kawit, Cavite after the country obtained its freedom from the oppressors.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has released her message for the Filipino people on the 127th anniversary celebration of the Independence Day. In a message posted on social media, the second-highest official in the government stressed that the freedom that we have now is the fruit of the genuine and lasting love of our heroes to the country. It is also the product of their steadfast stand against the oppression of the foreign races.
“Mga kababayan, ang tinatamasa nating kalayaan ngayon ay bunga ng tunay at wagas na pagmamahal ng mga bayaning Pilipino sa ating bansa at ang magiting nilang paninindigan laban sa pang-aalipin ng mga dayuhan,” she wrote.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also stated that the Filipino heroes’ sacrifices and offering of their lives have led to us enjoying the freedom of a free country with its own goals, advocacies, and interest. According to her, today’s celebration reminds us to guard and protect this freedom.
“Ang Araw ng Kalayaan ay pagkakataon hindi lamang upang ipagdiwang ang ating kalayaan kundi upang paalalahanan din tayo sa ating tungkulin na bantayan, pangalagaan, at ipagtanggol ito sa lahat ng panahon,” the Vice President said.
According to the Vice President, embracing the culture of slavery is slamming the memories of the Filipino heroes who fought for our independence. She also stressed that corruption in the government is one of the challenges in preserving the freedom of the country.
“Kabilang sa mga hamon sa ating kalayaan ay ang pagmamalabis at katiwalian sa gobyerno… Hindi tayo lumaya para masadlak lamang sa pagdurusa ang ating bansa. Hindi tayo lumaya para muling mawalan ng karapatan at maging alipin ng iilan,” the Vice President wrote.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte called on the Filipinos not to surrender our freedom to the traitors and those who have no concern for the Filipino welfare and the country. According to her, we must be proud of our independence.
Aside from Vice Pres. Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also gave a message for the Filipinos for the 127th Independence Day celebration.
