SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that she has no ill feelings with Pres. Bongbong Marcos but has a problem with his performance as the country’s leader.
Vice Pres. Duterte is currently in Australia where she joined the “Free Duterte Now” rally organized their supporters there. Prior to it, she has been to Qatar where she also met the Duterte supporters, to The Hague for scheduled visits to former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and to Malaysia where she attended the Philippine Independence Day celebration.

Senator Robin Padilla who was also present at the event in Malaysia called Vice Pres. Sara Duterte “the next president of the Philippines”. Previously, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed his belief that his arrest and the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court in The Hague could lead to the presidency of his daughter.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos should be held accountable over her father’s arrest. The Chief Executive was heavily criticized for allowing the arrest of his predecessor and the transfer of his custody to foreign authorities.
According to Pres. Marcos, the government only acted on the arrest because of its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). Malacañang also defended the President from betrayal accusations and stressed that the government only did its job.

Recently, amid the soured relationship between them, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about the remarks of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that he is ready to reconcile with the Duterte family. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, speaking in Melbourne, the Vice President claimed she has no ill feelings towards the Chief Executive.
“I have no ill feelings with him with regard to the political persecution that I am receiving from the administration because that is part of the life of a politician,” the Vice President said.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, what she has a problem with is the performance of Pres. Marcos as the country’s leader as well as his alleged violation of the laws. Based on the report, she also claimed that she has not received any request for a meeting with him despite his previous ‘reconciliation’ remarks.
“I have problems with his performance as president and I have problems with the violations of our fundamental law, our Constitution, particularly with the rendition of former president Duterte. That was really an affront to Philippine sovereignty,” Duterte said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte told the Filipinos in Melbourne to convince the government of Australia to look into the alleged “injustice” of the ICC to her father. The camp of the former President is currently seeking for his interim release. According to the Vice President, the needs of the 80-year-old former President would be better attended if his interim release bid would be granted.
