Davao Vice Mayor-elect Baste Duterte Assumes PDP-Laban Presidency from Sen. Robin Padilla amid Incoming 20th Congress
ROBIN PADILLA – The actor-turned-Senator has taken his leave as the PDP-Laban president to focus in his duty as a legislator.
The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan or more popularly known as the PDP–Laban is the political party of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is currently detained in The Hague. The children of former Pres. Duterte even campaigned fervently for the PDP bets in the 2025 Elections as requested by their father.
The Duterte siblings called on the Filipinos to vote straight the #Duter10, the senatorial slate of the PDP-Laban. Former Pres. Duterte is the chairman of the political party that the endorsed the senatorial bids of the following:

- singer Jimmy Bondoc
- Jayvee Hinlo
- Raul Lambino

Before the 2025 Election Day, the PDP-Laban adopted Sen. Imee Marcos and Las Piñas District Representative Camille Villar as their guest candidates. The two (2) senatorial candidates were also endorsed fervently by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Sen. Robin Padilla was the president of the PDP-Laban until recently when he decided to take a leave. Based on a report on GMA News, the action star-turned-Senator wants to focus his attention as a legislator in the 20th Congress and push for the party’s legislative agenda now that the 2025 Elections are over.
“Layunin ko pong ituon ang aking atensyon sa aking tungkulin bilang senador, lalo na sa paghahanda sa pagbubukas ng 20th Congress,” the Senator said.
Based on the report, the position of Sen. Robin Padilla as the president of the PDP-Laban will be assumed by Davao Vice Mayor-elect Baste Duterte, the executive vice president of the party. The outgoing Davao Mayor ran alongside his father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who won mayor in Davao in the 2025 Elections.
Prior to taking a leave from his duties as the president of the PDP-Laban, Sen. Robin Padilla was spotted with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They joined the Philippine Independence Day celebration abroad with the Filipino community.
At the event, Sen. Robin Padilla claimed that he will be the campaign manager of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos in 2028. It was the first time that the tandem was spoken of in public although there were already speculations of a possible Sara-Imee tandem in 2028.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she was also allegedly surprised by the Sara-Imee tandem of Sen. Robin Padilla. He campaigned early for the two (2) government officials in front of the Filipinos in Malaysia. It is no secret to the public that Padilla is a loyal ally of the Duterte family and has even reaffirmed his loyalty to them a few days before the impeachment trial against the Vice President was opened.
