Rhian Ramos on Entering Politics

Rhian Ramos Opens Up About Politics

RHIAN RAMOS — The actress shared her thoughts on entering politics, especially after witnessing her boyfriend, Sam Verzosa, run for mayor in Manila and lose.

She admitted feeling heartbroken for him because, as someone who loves him, it was painful to watch him go through disappointment and sadness. She was particularly worried about how deeply hurt he would feel after the loss.

Rhian shared that Sam cried after the election, which she completely understood. According to her, Sam had every right to feel emotional because he invested so much of his time, effort, and resources into the campaign. What touched her more was that Sam was not only crying for himself but also for the people he felt he had let down.

When asked if she would consider entering politics herself after witnessing Sam’s experience, Rhian admitted that her stance had changed. She previously said she wasn’t interested, but now she is even more certain that politics isn’t for her. She explained that politics can be very disheartening and, based on what she has seen and experienced, it often seems like the system works against people rather than supporting them. For now, she has no plans to pursue a political career.

In the recent Manila mayoral elections, Isko Moreno was elected as the new mayor.

While Rhian is staying away from politics, her acting career remains busy. She is set to star as Mitena in the upcoming Kapuso fantaserye Sang’gre, a spin-off of the hit 2016 series Encantadia. In the show, Mitena is the twin sister of Cassiopeia, originally played by Solenn Heussaff. The series will introduce new characters, including Flamarra (Faith Da Silva), Deia (Angel Guardian), Adamus (Kelvin Miranda), Terra (Bianca Umali), Armea (Ysabel Ortega), Governor Emil (played by the late Ricky Davao), and a younger version of Mitena played by Sienna Stevens. Sang’gre will premiere on GMA Prime on June 16.
