PNP Clarifies Rendon Labador is Not Leading Police Fitness Program

Rendon Labador Not Officially Appointed by PNP for Fitness Initiative

PNP – The Philippine National Police has released a statement clarifying that social media influencer and fitness coach Rendon Labador is not officially in charge of the organization’s weight loss program.

PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III has not authorized any specific fitness instructor to lead a nationwide police fitness initiative, as emphasized in a memorandum dated June 21 by the PNP Directorate for Community Police Relations.

The PNP also reminded its personnel, especially those managing social media accounts, to be responsible when posting or sharing information to avoid spreading misleading content that could cause public confusion.

The clarification followed after Labador appeared in a Facebook reel at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, where he was seen speaking with officers and reporters. He had earlier expressed willingness to help overweight officers become fitter at no cost.

This fitness effort supports PNP Chief Torre’s recent directive requiring all police officers to achieve a healthy weight within one year. Under Republic Act No. 6975, officers must maintain a weight within five kilograms of the ideal range for their height, age, and sex. Torre warned that those who fail to meet the requirement may face removal from service.

Although not officially leading the program, Rendon Labador launched a 93-day fitness challenge for PNP personnel starting June 19 at Camp Crame. Organized by the Police Community Affairs and Development Group, the program aims to promote healthier lifestyles among officers. Labador advised participants to reduce rice intake and focus on proper nutrition, emphasizing that exercise without a healthy diet is ineffective.

In addition to workout routines, Labador also provides dietary guidance to support long-term weight management. The entire program is free for all participants.

Meanwhile, Rendon Labador is a fitness coach, motivational speaker, and content creator. He is known for his straightforward fitness advice, viral videos, and the popular “motivational rice” meme. He owns the Fitness Army gym and holds degrees in Information Technology and Civil Engineering.
