Nicole Hyala Opens Up About Her Cancer Battle
NICOLE HYALA – The radio host revealed that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. In a video shared on social media, recorded two weeks earlier, Nicole opened up about the diagnosis during her radio show.
Though the news was unexpected, Nicole remained calm. She explained that doctors often refer to thyroid cancer as one of the “friendliest” types, which gave her some comfort. She added that she has been through much worse in life—and this is just another challenge she is ready to face.
Nicole reflected on the difficult seasons she has overcome, saying that while some moments nearly broke her, she is still standing, smiling, and shining. She described this cancer as just another wave in a storm she knows she can ride out, especially with her faith in God guiding her.

She admitted that this wasn’t part of her plan, but believes it is part of God’s. With confidence and trust, Nicole said she is relying on Him once again through this new journey. She also shared her usual humor, saying cancer picked the wrong girl to mess with.
Nicole revealed that she will undergo thyroid surgery (thyroidectomy) this July as part of her treatment. According to the Mayo Clinic, thyroid cancer begins in the thyroid gland and often shows no early symptoms. As it progresses, it may cause neck swelling, voice changes, difficulty swallowing, or swollen lymph nodes.
