Man Seen Coming Out of Drainage in Makati

Man Caught on Video Leaving Drainage in Makati

MAKATI CITY – A man was spotted coming out of a drainage along Adelantado Street in Makati, and a motorcycle rider named Jefferson Candido recorded the moment.

The man, wearing old clothes and carrying a metal object, quickly left without answering Candido’s questions. This raised concerns because some people think he might be digging or scavenging in the area. The drainage had already been blocked to stop people from getting in, after similar videos went viral online.

Not long ago, a woman named Rose became famous online after a photo showed her coming out of a drainage near Rufino and Adelantado Streets. People called her “Imburnal Girl” and “Sadako Girl” because the photo looked like a scary movie scene. After the photo spread, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) found Rose and learned that she dreamed of opening a small sari-sari store to make a living.

The DSWD gave Rose ₱80,000 in financial help to support her dream. More than that, the agency wants Rose to help encourage other homeless people to accept government assistance. DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said many homeless people are afraid to ask for help because they worry about being treated badly or forced to leave where they live. He believes Rose’s story can inspire others to trust the help available and start improving their lives.

Gatchalian said, “We might use her as an ambassador to show that nothing bad will happen when they join us—only help.” This new plan hopes to convince more people in similar situations to get the support they need, using Rose as an example.
