Israel Bombs Iran’s State TV Network During a Live Broadcast

Iran’s state-run television network, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), was bombed by Israel during a live broadcast.

The Iran–Israel proxy conflict is a long-running and complicated struggle fueled by politics, beliefs, and regional rivalry. Decades ago, before Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran and Israel actually had friendly ties, mainly because they both saw nearby Arab countries as a threat. But after the revolution, things changed. Iran began supporting groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine—both of which strongly oppose Israel. In response, Israel started backing Iranian opposition groups, carried out airstrikes on Iran’s allies in Syria, and targeted Iranian nuclear scientists.

Iran says it supports the Palestinian cause to build stronger ties with Arab and Sunni-majority countries in the region. Over time, it has backed different approaches to the issue, including both one-state and two-state solutions. On the other hand, Israel sees Iran as a serious threat, especially due to fears that Iran could build nuclear weapons. Because of this, Israel has pushed for global sanctions and even considered military action.

The conflict has led to deadly battles, like the 2006 war with Hezbollah and multiple wars in Gaza (2008, 2012, 2014, 2021, and ongoing since 2023). Both countries blame each other for violence and human rights abuses, making the path to peace even harder to find.

Meanwhile, during a live broadcast, Iran’s state-run television network, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), was bombed by Israel.

Israel launched an airstrike targeting Iran’s state-run television network in Tehran. The attack occurred while the station was airing a live broadcast. During the segment, a female news anchor was reporting when an explosion suddenly occurred in the studio, sending debris flying.

The shocked anchor immediately left her seat, and the studio lights went out. Reports indicate that the bombing was carried out by an Israeli aircraft—an act tied to the escalating conflict between the two countries. Tragically, one IRIB staff member was reported killed as a result of the airstrike.
